We Had Math Class Today!

The music teacher left early, so someone needed to cover music class, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to have math today.

We went over the homework from Friday, students took a HW quiz, and then we reviewed for a quiz tomorrow on adding and subtracting integers.  Below are the worksheets that were assigned.

Accelerated Math

Students worked on accelerated math.  Many seemed to make significant progress towards completing all of the assigned objectives.  Since this is the first unit of the year that we are doing accelerated math, I wanted to be sure to give students enough class time to work on it.

6.3 Accelerated Math

We worked on accelerated math for the first time this year.  Students were assigned objectives that are what we are going to learn in our upcoming unit.  Throughout the unit students are expected to be working on accelerated math on their own time.  They will be given time in class occasionally, but they should work on it at home as well.  As the unit continues, students should be able to pass more objectives.  It does not matter how many tries it takes the student, as long as they complete the objectives by the end of the unit.

Students worked on the review for unit 2 on decimals.  It is due tomorrow.  The test will be Friday.  Quizzes on dividing decimals were also passed back.  Students are allowed to complete corrections on a separate sheet of paper to earn half the points back they missed on the quiz.  Quiz corrections must be turned in by Friday.

We began our unit with an activity to understand percents.  Each student shot a short free throw and we calculated our percentage as we went.  As a class we ended 6 of 23 for a percentage of 26.1%.  There is no homework.
